look at what we found at scott's!

we spent saturday afternoon perusing scott's antique market.  you may remember me telling you about it here.  it is basically two giant expo centers filled with booths of everything you could ever imagine.  since we live in atlanta, we are fortunate enough to visit it almost every month.  scott's is only open the second weekend of every month, so if you live out of town, plan accordingly!  this month, we weren't looking for any furniture this time, just odds and ends. although we didn't end up finding anything we wanted to buy, i got to take a lot of fun pictures of interesting things and we did run into a lot of great people! we saw some of my sorority sisters from georgia, some friends from athens, small group friends and their sweet boy (see below), and oh yeah i met my favorite "blog friends" darby and erika. i have been following both of their blogs for 3 years now and it was so surreal to see them in person and meet them.  they are even sweeter than i could have ever imagined.  i told them how much i loved them and how much i knew about them and they kindly accepted my stalkerness and we chatted about life.  it was such a delight to get to meet them and it made me love them even more.  we even snagged a photo for documented proof for all you darby+erika fans out there.  if you ever see this darby and erika, thank you for being such amazing sisters and so kind to a complete stranger!  hope our paths will cross again :)

i forgot to mention in the weekend post about our outing on sunday. we were strolling the neighborhood, enjoying the brisk, october air when we stumbled upon an estate sale. we have frequented many a yard sale in hopes of finding treasures, but never an estate sale.

it wasn't open yet, so we decided we would head back home, change, and drive back over. i have never had so much drive to run before in my life. if only every day i could have a reason to run. anyways, i am very sore today, thank you estate sale.

our first estate sale definitely gave me a weird feeling. we perused this huge house, digging through these strangers' stuff trying to find a bargain or two. i felt like i was intruding almost. and then i started wondering...what happened to the people who lived here? why are they selling all their stuff? are they alive??? thankfully, the craze of wanting a deal came over me and i was able to push those thoughts aside.

so, what did we get?

a 3 inch binder {50 cents}

two books for our bookshelves

and a Christmas wreath

all for $20

that's right.

a steal.

but you want to know what wasn't a steal?

that pretty coffee table that was calling my name.

too bad it was $900!!!

the rest of the weekend and a craft

exciting news! i ordered a stamp of my photography business logo and it arrived this weekend! i am currently working on creating little cd sleeves out of paper to package my customer's disks. i am in desperate need of a singer, though! i sewed this one by hand, which was not efficient nor did it produce the look i am going for. i am loving the stamp so much, though. all i want to do is stamp everything! it would make a great tramp stamp. too far? okay, moving on.
besides seeing the civil wars in concert {which we can't stop talking about!}, we also ventured to angels antiques to do some perusing during the afternoon thunderstorms. we discovered that we both had this interest of antiques and historical pieces when we were dating and it has been so much fun to begin decorating our home with things that we have found together. we even created a long list of antiques that we want to purchase one day. one of those is an old underwood typewriter that still works. we are what i like to call "pre-shopping" for the future, so one day when we have our own place to display things and are not living in transition and have a little more mulah saved up, we will be ready to buy!

we did add this 1920's kodak camera to our collection over spring break. i found it in one of franklin, tennessee's antique shops. the perfect souvenir to remember our wonderful time in tennessee!

at church this sunday the mwangaza children choir from africa renewal ministries in uganda came and performed a concert. they were amazing and so precious! cornerstone church has partnered with a church in buluba, uganda over the past few years to build a water well, a church, and to help sponsor children to go to school. it was so moving to see the children in person and to hear them sing!

in craft news, i made some little hair pins out of buttons and bobbie pins.
all you need is a hot glue gun, some buttons, and some bobbie pins!
just slide on the button all the way to the end and add a blob of hot glue to hold the button in place. i know, so technical!
ta-da! the finish product. cost about $1.50 and took about 5 minutes. my kind of craft!
