life, recently | iphone photos

life has been pretty fun lately.

we've unpacked wedding gifts that we hadn't seen in 4 years and have frequented the depot way too much for my liking. we've been hanging out with friends and enjoying atlanta's monday night brewery.
i worked at the atlanta food and wine festival for buckhaven lifestyle magazine and got to capture and sample some of the best food and drink that the south has to offer (tough, i know).  pictured above is atlanta's honeysuckle gelato's sea salt caramel - so good!  i also have been babysitting the cutest little two year old boy and adventuring to the botanical gardens.  i am slowly decorating and getting settled into our home.  pictured above is tyler's office space, our first night on our patio, ty baby cutting the yard like a champ, and our first date night at home with our new grill! we are definitely enjoying our first summer in our new house :)  hope you are enjoying your summer too.

life, recently | iphone photos

we spent the first two weekends of summer in auburn, relaxing with friends and family.
it was so great to go back and escape the busy life of the city.
the first weekend, we focused on relaxing and eating at our favorite places that atlanta doesn't have::
marble slab, mcallisters, amsterdams, and of course earth fare's chocolate milk.
we also were super lazy and watched the entire first season of downton abbey
{so good!!!}
oh the good ole days of lazy weekends in auburn.
we also got to catch up with our small group friends + baby john embry and go to church which was great.

the second weekend was all about spending time with family.
sister came and we got to spend the weekend with our grandparents and their new kitten!
again, we ate really well, laughed a lot, and relaxed on the porch with good books.
we even took a trip over to campus to see the new commons area in front of the engineering building that is named after my grandparents and dad - the finished product is really pretty!

both weekends were so much fun and we desperately needed that time to breathe and relax.
until next time, auburn.

easter weekend

spring has sprung in the city!
we had a fabulous weekend filled with
friends, food, and fabulous weather.

saturday, we ventured over to the high
to see the picasso to warhol exhibit.

the exhibit was great and the high also featured
some really beautiful european art.
it made me want to go back to the british museum
and just sit for hours.

after the high, we headed to the park for a picnic with friends.
we brought some vino and cheese
from this adorable store called perrines -
amazing french treats!

after church today
we went to the fabulous empire state south
for a wonderful easter brunch. yum!

i hope you have had a wonderful weekend.
happy easter :)

evening plans

the last full week of january was loaded with evening plans. between bachelor watching party, date night, cooking class, and supper club, my after school schedule was amazing. i love weeks like that! it keeps me from just counting down to the weekend.

now, i want to report specifically on the events pictured above. we dined at flip burger for our date night, which solidified my feelings on that restaurant. i chose to go there for dinner because i was craving fried pickles and a chocolate shake, thanks to a zaxby's commercial (disclaimer, i do not like zaxbys). unfortunately, flip's fried pickles were horrible and i will have to make the trip out to roswell's fickle pickle next time this craving occurs. on the flip side (haha) the nutella milkshake was heaven like always. seriously, the best chocolate milkshake in the land. it is thick and creamy and comes topped with torched marshmallows. after the expensive bill came, i decided that other than the nutella, flip just isn't really worth it. i have decided that when it comes to burgers, i like mine simple, without the foaming cheese. i would much rather go to yeah burger or five guys any day.

also pictured above, are pictures from a cooking class that katie and i took. it was such a fun night out in the city, trying new foods and learning some good cooking tips. the class was a lot of observation, but we did get to make our own crackers! we also enjoyed scallop and shrimp pesto appetizers, salad with homemade dressing, butternut squash puree, and delicious mouse pastry with strawberries. yum!

i am obviously loving all these new food options in our city. now if i could just get paid to photograph, eat, and review food all day long, that would be great!

back in the swing of things

january was a very busy month for me - trying to get back in the swing of school and starting a new calendar year. third 9 weeks is always so stressful, trying to teach everything before the beloved standardized tests roll into town. thankfully, teaching science has been entertaining, with lots of exciting experiments. girl scouts have also been in full swing and we have unfortunately already purchased 8 boxes. eight! thankfully, we did get a break from our busy work schedules and got to spend the weekend in the mountains with our new small group. more pictures to come from that weekend, soon!

saturday in the 20s

last night we celebrated our friend's birthday in style.
1920s style, that is.
birthday girl and baby-to-be looked great
as she roared out of her 20s and entered her 30s.
such a creative theme and fun party!

christmas according to my iphone

christmas 2011.
how is it already over???
i am having serious withdrawals over here.

so, i am just going to relive the season through my blog
while i continue to enjoy the glow of my christmas tree :)

what have the mccrarys been up to? well, last thursday we loaded down eleanor and headed south for a winter break. flahida was extremely hot {like 85 degrees} which made the trip feel like spring break more than christmas. part of the reason why i don't feel like christmas has happened yet. despite the heat wave, it was a great visit, full of three christmas suppers, lots of yummy treats and gifts, tons of family, and even a little running on beautiful bayshore.

more christmas pictures to come. and possibly a little creative surprise.
