new york, part ii

part ii of new york included an extremely windy and frigid trip out to battery park to see the statue of liberty.  since this was my cousin's first time to the city, it was a must see.  i'm so glad we went, because it really put into perspective how it really wasn't that cold on the streets of new york.  down at the tip of the island, was really miserable, as you can probably tell from the photos.  after about 5 minutes at battery park, we hopped over to the 9/11 memorial.  it was such a beautiful and powerful sight to see.  i really enjoyed watching my cousin take it all in - he was only 4 years old during the attacks, and didn't learn about 9/11 until one of his teachers told him about it in fourth grade.  it was a very solemn yet beautiful place, full off sad memories of loss and exciting rebirth of new buildings.  i highly recommend seeing it. be back with more later.

new york, part i

here are photos from part i of our new york trip.  we spent the first day {afternoon and evening, really} walking around our hotel exploring the christmas sights. after a giant lunch at carnegie deli, we stopped by saks, bendels, and bergdorfs to check out the window displays.  we checked out some more stores on 5th avenue and then headed to rockefeller center with the rest of the world. it was nuts, but there really is nothing like seeing that giant tree in the heart of midtown.  this was my fourth time seeing it and it still took my breath away.  ugh new york, why do you have to be so fabulous? be back later with more!

is christmas really over???

merry christmas friends! i am still saying it proudly when i see friends at church and around town.  i know i will have to switch over to "happy new year" soon, but until then, i'm still celebrating! no surprise, since i had such a hard time saying good bye to the season last year.  one confession is that i have been watching the christmas video i made last year on my tv a few times, (thanks to our new apple tv - highly recommend!) wishing i had had time to make another one this year.  oh well, maybe next year.  in the meantime, i have lots of photos to share with you about our christmas and i am so excited about that. i finally have some time to sit down, edit personal photos, and blog.  first up are a few quick photos from our little family christmas.  we celebrated with some gifts the night before we flew to new york.  we had supper together, exchanged some gifts, and opened the ones we had received in the mail.  it was so sweet and made me really excited for one day getting to stay at home for Christmas.  until then, we travel!  planning for chilly new york and sunny florida made packing a little hectic, but it was all worth it for seeing the city and spending time with family. I also got to take lots of photos, which of course I loved.  I'll be back with more later!
