a little something extra

tonight we made one of our favorite dishes. i like to call them "gourmet burgers". we have done them both with hamburger meat and turkey meat, but turkey meat is so much better! this time i decided to add a little something extra. i have been wanting to make fried green tomatoes for a while now, so i decided to try them out tonight with the burgers. i found a really easy recipe on simply recipes, and went for it!
ingredients:

  • green tomato
  • milk
  • flour
  • 1 egg
  • bread crumbs
  • salt
  • pepper
  • olive oil
*i didn't measure out any of the ingredients, i just estimated.

steps:
1.) cut tomato into slices
2.) sprinkle them with salt and pepper
3.) place milk, flour, egg, and bread crumbs in separate bowls
4.) heat olive oil in skillet on medium heat
5.) dip tomato in milk, then flour, then egg, then bread crumbs

6.) place tomato in the skillet and fry for about 5 minutes on each side, or until the edges begin to brown.

after letting them cool, add them to your favorite sandwich!

turkey burgers with romaine lettuce, fried green tomatoes, onions, secret sauce, pickles, and sweet potato fries. yum.
