concert @ chastain's

tyler's boss gave us free tickets to a reo speedwagon and pat benatar concert at chastain park. it was so much fun!!! the atmostphere was just right in the outdoor venue and it was packed with middle aged fans reminiscing on "the good ole days". reo speedwagon was really popular in the late 70's, early 80's when our parents were in college and pat benatar was huge in the 80s.  we were surprised to know a few songs of both rock-n-roll groups.    i love reo speedwagon's "take it on the run" and pat benatar's "hit me with your best shot" is a guitar hero favorite of mine.  my favorite part of the concert is when the bands would talk about some event and say "back in 1980..." and the crowd would go nuts as if that was the best year of their lives.  we would just look at each other and laugh.  another great part of the concert was when a favorite song came on, women would pop up everywhere and start dancing like they were back in 1980.  it was hilarious.  made me think of whose concert we will be going to in 20 years reminiscing on our college years.  we both agreed we would go to a john mayer concert.  it is hard though because so much of what is popular now is all computer generated and nothing compares to the talent of pat benatar's lead guitarist, "spider" {whom she is also married to}.  rock-n-roll baby. i'm a believer. it was such a fun night and it was perfect because it was also the anniversary of when we started dating four years ago.  the night ended with pat singing "love is battlefield".  that it is, pat.
