new york, part ii

part ii of new york included an extremely windy and frigid trip out to battery park to see the statue of liberty.  since this was my cousin's first time to the city, it was a must see.  i'm so glad we went, because it really put into perspective how it really wasn't that cold on the streets of new york.  down at the tip of the island, was really miserable, as you can probably tell from the photos.  after about 5 minutes at battery park, we hopped over to the 9/11 memorial.  it was such a beautiful and powerful sight to see.  i really enjoyed watching my cousin take it all in - he was only 4 years old during the attacks, and didn't learn about 9/11 until one of his teachers told him about it in fourth grade.  it was a very solemn yet beautiful place, full off sad memories of loss and exciting rebirth of new buildings.  i highly recommend seeing it. be back with more later.

Love your blog and especially your NYC pictures. I just visited the 9/11 memorial over Thanksgiving, too, and it was so emotional. Thanks for sharing your pictures. See you Monday (sigh).
