hello blogger friends! just wanted to let you know that the blog is under a bit of construction. i have been having some html problems lately. if the blog is completely distorted as you read this, please let me know! my blog expert friend, shealy, worked her magic and it should be good to go now! i am trying to learn more about html and this new blog world, but my blog seems to be a little fickle.
for example, it will not display "comment" after every blog post. i have spent hours researching this problem, but i've got nothing. the comment issue is still a mystery. so if you know how to fix my problem, you will make my day!
also, my blog post titles have now mysteriously disappeared! what is happening???
well, that's all for now! happy weekend!

baby steps
one day, i want to have a garden. yes, a garden. i want to grow my own onions, tomatoes, cucumbers, everything. spring has sprung and a ton of our friends are planting and pruning away. tyler keeps reminding me that our sweet little rental is definitely not an ideal setting for our first garden. also, our upcoming move to the city doesn't make for good timing. the garden will just have to wait until we get a little more settled. all that aside, i couldn't resist buying this little growing kit at target. the kit came with a mini pot, soil, and lots of tiny strawberry seeds. the price was just right at one dollar! i know it's not much, but i am really excited about it. baby steps, people. not only is this my first attempt in the realm of gardening, it is also my first step in taking care of something other than myself. should be interesting. maybe if this is successful, tyler will buy me a fish. just maybe.

nothin on my mind but...georgia
we visited the A-T-L this weekend to look at some possible places to live in for the summer. it was definitely a great trip! we met the couple that we are going to live with for part of the summer. they are awesome! their house is gorgeous and we will be living in their beautifully finished and furnished attic. the bathroom is amazing and get this - there are two sinks!!! wow, what a luxury!
the Lord is definitely opening doors and answering prayers.
tyler and i had so much fun driving around atlanta.
it was a rainy day which meant no traffic, so we were happy campers. we rounded off the trip with some chick-fil-a (the picture is from a previous trip...Meghan, you remember this?), a trip to my new favorite - perimeter mall, and of course some yofo. talk about a wonderful weekend! the weekend got me really
excited for this summer in atlanta. it should be a fun little adventure for the mccrarys. so this post is in honor of everything georgia. here's to chick-fil-a, peaches, friday night fireworks at turner field, coka-cola, piedmont park, the 4th on the square, boiled peanuts, the bulldogs, and of courses, ludacris. it's going to be a great summer my friends.

a little something extra
tonight we made one of our favorite dishes. i like to call them "gourmet burgers". we have done them both with hamburger meat and turkey meat, but turkey meat is so much better! this time i decided to add a little something extra. i have been wanting to make fried green tomatoes for a while now, so i decided to try them out tonight with the burgers. i found a really easy recipe on simply recipes, and went for it!
ingredients:
- green tomato
- milk
- flour
- 1 egg
- bread crumbs
- salt
- pepper
- olive oil
*i didn't measure out any of the ingredients, i just estimated.
steps:
1.) cut tomato into slices
2.) sprinkle them with salt and pepper
3.) place milk, flour, egg, and bread crumbs in separate bowls
4.) heat olive oil in skillet on medium heat
5.) dip tomato in milk, then flour, then egg, then bread crumbs
6.) place tomato in the skillet and fry for about 5 minutes on each side, or until the edges begin to brown.
after letting them cool, add them to your favorite sandwich!
turkey burgers with romaine lettuce, fried green tomatoes, onions, secret sauce, pickles, and sweet potato fries. yum.
flowers from friends
there is nothing sweeter than getting flowers! thank you to my thoughtful friends for brightening my day! miss you always.

oh no he didn't...
breakfast in bed. what a sweetheart. homemade chocolate chip and banana pancakes, homemade hashbrowns, and sausage. what a wonderful way to start a sunday morning.
a-day game
it's saturday in....auburn. even though we weren't cheering for our bulldogs, we still enjoyed the beautiful spring day in auburn with the harts. the game was a lot of fun, and auburn won! (ha)
easter
tyler and i had a fabulous first easter together. mom and anna lynn came to visit us, and we spent a wonderful weekend together. it was filled with lots of good food, shopping, and celebrating Jesus. we had fun showing my mom around and searching for the apartments that she had lived in when she was at auburn. we also ate at momma g's and walked around sweet downtown auburn. we even tried out the new yogurt place in town - tutti fruiti. uh-mazing. our church did a wonderful job preparing our hearts for the easter season and it was great to have my mom and sister with us to celebrate. after church, i thoroughly enjoyed cooking my first easter lunch. all in all, definitely one of my favorite easters ever.
good friday dinner. menu included tyler's homemade french onion soup, ceasar salad, roasted asparagus, pork tenderloin, french bread, and a trip to bruster's!
"Jesus said to her, "I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies; and whoever lives and believes in me will never die. Do you believe this?" - John 11:25-26
easter lunch included easter candy, the honey baked ham, rosemary roasted new potatoes, roasted asparagus, rolls, and blackberry cobbler.

the start of something new
well, here we go...
i wish i could say that i have always welcomed change with open arms or that i could at least adapt well to it. but honestly, change and i haven't always been friends. sure, new things can be fun and exciting, but it's that adjustment that can be painful at times. two-thousand and nine brought about a lot of changes in my life; i graduated college, got married, moved to a new town, got my first real job and adjusted to the lovely "real world".
it has been a crazy but wonderful year, and i like to think that change and i have become better friends. these drastic changes have caused me to rely more on the Lord daily and appreciate the dedication and selflessness that comes with marriage. changes themselves may be challenging, but it is the fruit that they produce that matters. for the first time in my life, i have willingly challenged myself to try new things. known as a picky eater all my life, i have recently experimented with a lot of new foods. onions, now being one of my favorites. also, i know you won't believe this, but last night the pita boy accidently put tomatoes on my pita and i didn't mind it. shocking, i know. i have also enjoyed the world of cooking and have mastered a few family favorites while becoming passionate about homemade sauces. what else have i done to challenge myself recently? i shot a gun at a shooting range for the first time, and i also took a sewing class and made a dress. surely, i am on my way to being a pioneer woman. ha.
i want this blog to be a place for me to reflect and share with my friends and family what is going on with the mccrarys. i am excited about this new challenge, and i look forward to the posts to come.
